Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday 15th May 2010 around 100 people will be cycling from Tom Walkers Memorial statue at Burleigh Community College, Loughborough to the Clock Tower in Skegness, a distance of approximately 90 miles.
Many of you may or may not know, that Tom, a great friend of mine, was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in August 2006 aged 16 after complaining of pain in his shoulder. A keen rugby enthusiast who played for his beloved Loughborough RFC from the age of 7 years old until diagnosis. Tom had a positive outlook on life despite many months of chemotherapy and the forequarter amputation he endured. He was awarded the Wellchild award in his age group in 2007 and also received the prestigious Diana award. Tom passed away in February 2008.....18 years old.
Those of you who know me will know that a 90 mile cycle round, especially with my fitness levels and the size of my belly, will be an extremely hard task. However if i show the same level of determination that my friend Tom did then i know i have every chance of completing the journey.
