Running for Children in Care

Great North Run 2021 · 12 September 2021 ·
As of last summer, more than 75,000 children were living in care. Despite the best intentions of those running and working within the care system, many will leave care with attachment difficulties and unresolved trauma that will impact their ability to form and sustain positive relationships.
Care leavers are 5 times likely to suffer from a mental health disorder. They are also more likely to have special educational needs, are more at risk of offending, have a greater likeliness of becoming a teenage parent and are less likely to finish education with qualifications.
It takes a village to raise a child, children in care and leaving care just need a bigger village. Please donate what you can to Become and give a child in care or a care leaver that little bit more help and support that makes a huge difference.
