Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Well, I think I've reached that time in my life where I need to do something special - to feel like I've accomplished something and given something back. I'm 40 years young this year and what I plan to do is this ..... the Great Manchester Run (10k) on 15/05/11, the Great North Run (21k) on 18/09/11 and the London Marathon (42k) in April 2012. I've already been accepted into the first two and will try for the third as soon as they are accepting entries.
Both my parents have been hit with the metaphorical baseball bat that that goes by the pseudonym 'The Big C' and for this reason, and for these people, I am going to complete these events to raise money towards Cancer Research. (Thankfully my parents are both now in remission)
I would appreciate it if you could bring yourself to give a small donation in order to sponsor me for the completion of the first run in the task which I have set before myself in this monumental year of my life. A task that, as an ex-smoker, I do not take lightly as it is sure to be a hell of a mountain for me to climb.
My goal is £1000 altogether for the three runs so the target I have set for this first one is £333.

Update: I completed the Manchester 10k in 57mins & 2 seconds. I'm very pleased with that time for a first attempt.
Update: I am keeping this page going to cover the Great North Run on the 18th Sept and have changed my target accordingly.
Unfortunately I have not been accepted into the 2012 London Marathon :o(
I completed the Great North Run 21k in 2hrs 17mins. The last 2 miles was torture! It is the furthest I have ever run in my life!
Thanks to everybody who has donated ........... I am very proud of what we have achieved.
