The Central African Republic is located at a migration crossroads in the centre of Africa. Bordering what are now six nation states, the area has historically seen huge migrations to and from its borders.
Despite holding considerable underground reserves of gold, uranium and diamonds, CAR remains one of the poorest countries in Africa.
Today Muslims, predominantly residing in the northern areas of the country and the capital, Bangui, are being driven from their homes by vigilante mobs and Christian militia.
