Story
Julie - In 2013, my sister-in-law had a stroke. She was just 37 and had just had a tiny baby, who was only 6 weeks old. I was completely shocked, I couldn’t believe that someone so young, fit and healthy could have a stroke.
Jo received fabulous medical care and was given a wide range of information from the Stroke Association in the hospital ward. This helped her understand what a stroke was and what had actually happened to her.
On Sunday 8th September, I will be taking part in the Great North Run - a half marathon in Newcastle. I will be running with my lovely, inspirational sister-in-law, Jo and my fabulous brother Paul. We will be running on behalf of the Stroke Association to raise money and awareness for this excellent charity
Jo - I’m a stroke survivor and I’m running to raise awareness. When I had a stroke in 2013, I didn’t even know what it was or what it does - I was given vital information from the stroke association via leaflets that were on the hospital ward. The fact I could read that information so quickly helped me understand and process what had happened. That was just a small part of what the SA do for patients, and I’m extremely grateful for all they do.
I’m so happy to be running with Paul and Sis-in-law Julie, and so pleased to have their support. It will be a (tough) day to remember for lots of reasons 💜
