Chris's Year of Ultra Running

Lakeland 50 · 7 November 2022
During 2023, I will be running 5 ultra marathons and taking in the Goggins 4x4x48 Challenge.
The Goggins is over the weekend 3-5th of March, the normal weekend Goggins himself does it. And for the ultras, I’m starting with taking on the Ultra X Scotland 50 in May again, aiming for an average time. Then I’m off to the UK Ultra South Downs 50K. After that, I’ll begin training in earnest for the Lakeland 50 miler, and I’m planning on doing the Run The Blades 50km as a training run for the big event. And finally, I’m thinking of doing the Glasgow to Edinburgh Ultra, but that could change to something longer depending on my plans for 2024.
I’m hoping to use all this effort to help raise some money for The Trussell Trust. They do sterling work across the UK to help people who can’t afford to feed themselves and their families, which is especially important during this cost of living crisis, and they’ll need all the help they can get.
From the charity itself:
Our vision is for a UK without the need for food banks. We say this because it’s not right that anyone cannot afford their own food. That’s why we are working towards a just, compassionate future, where no one should have to use a food bank to get by.Our vision is ambitious, but we know that if we work together it is possible. We can create a future where nobody goes hungry, because nobody will allow it – when we work Together for Change.#TogetherForChange
