EVERY 90 SECONDS someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury (ABI). There are many possible causes, such as a fall, a road traffic accident, an assault, a tumour or a stroke. A brain injury can happen to anyone, at any time. When it does, we're here to help

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In June 2021 I suffered a head injury and complications from the concussion it caused. It resulted in months of a debilitating condition that had a big impact on my life. It was both physically and mentally tough and not a little scary at times.

Alongside my wonderful family and friends, two things really helped throughout that period. The first was walking, one of the few activities I could do and one which I've slowly got more and more benefit from over the months and miles. The second was an incredible charity called Headway. They promote understanding of all aspects of brain injury and provide support and services to everyone impacted. They helped me with information and reassurance at a time when I, and many around me, were struggling to understand my condition and how to manage it.

Thankfully, nearly a year on, I'm almost fully recovered. Sadly many people are not as lucky and Headway play a vital role particularly for those who have to live long-term with a range of hugely challenging conditions.

I am therefore putting these two things together and have set myself a major walking challenge in support of Headway. Almost exactly a year on from my head injury I will be hiking the entirety of the Cotswold Way in four consecutive days, averaging over 26 miles per day. It will undoubtedly be tough in a very different way and I'd love it if you could support me and help Headway in the process.
