Story
For the 17th year in a row, Cory Band has qualified for the European Championships. This year they will be held in Montreux, Switzerland on 26-27 April and Cory will be looking to win again, having won five of the last eleven.
However proud we are for having such a long unbroken run of appearances, it has cost us nearly £250,000 to attend these 17 contests, which is a HUGE sum for any organisation to have to find.
So, we are raising funds to help us get to the starting line! Our Musical Director, Philip Harper, will cycle 86 miles from his home in Gloucester to the bandroom in Treorchy on 23 April, after which our President Morgan Jones and three supporters, David Webster, Dylan Williams, Arwel Griffiths will pick up the route in Switzerland by cycling up the Rhone valley and up the iconic Sonchaux pass with its 21 switchbacks up to 5000ft before circumnavigating Lake Geneva and arriving, 200 miles later, in Montreux in time for the contest to begin.
Please help us by donating and leaving a message of encouragement. Additionally this year, and in memory of our dearly departed Ian Williams, Principal Cornet of Cory for 20 years who died suddenly at the age of 52 last year, we will also be supporting the British Heart Foundation Charity. Two fantastic causes for which to raise money, as we get on our bikes in training for the big event!
