Story
At the beginning of the first lockdown back in April,
Joanne Price and I wanted to get our friends and colleagues together on a Saturday evening, have some fun, and raise money for our NHS heroes.
With Joanne and Jeremy setting the questions, and Ashley playing a starring Introducer role, the scene has been set.
We agreed that our local Foundation NHS Trust would be a suitable beneficiary, and from via our 23 Saturday night quizzes, we have encouraged donations from our competing family and friend teams.
To date, we have raised in excess of £4,000 for the Royal Free Charity and a similar amount for other NHS charities chosen by teams who live outside our area.
We have now set up this page to make giving easier, and for Gift Aid to be included, where possible.
We are delighted that Barclays Bank has now agreed to match all our donations for the foreseeable future.
Please see below to understand the fantastic work that the Royal Free Charity undertakes:
The aim of the Royal Free Charity is to support patients every step of the way to make their experience the best it can be. For each patient that need is different. The Charity provides support through trained volunteers, additional equipment, improved environments and patient based research. The Royal Free London hospital sites include Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals and includes specialist centres for rare diseases as well as general medical care.
The Charity is working closely with the Royal Free Trust to establish priority. They have have established four main priorities.
The first priority is to provide psychological support to meet the wide-ranging needs of staff via:
1) Peer support through a helpline and volunteers.
2) Qualified pastoral support which is to be provided by the Trust chaplaincy and an additional resource.
3) Clinical face to face support provided by occupational health psychologists to frontline teams, including those working in ICU’s and A&E departments.
A second priority for the Trust is to offer staff accommodation for staff, where criteria is met for those that cannot return home because they have vulnerable family members or they become sick and need
temporary accommodation.
Thirdly, they are supplying essential food and sustenance to frontline staff who are struggling to find time to have a meal between shifts or even a cup of tea or coffee.
Lastly, they are championing staff health and wellbeing by taking swift action to address the inequalities in the health and wellbeing of all staff with targeted programmes for higher-risk groups.
Joanne and I really hope this helps you to understand the massive difference you are making when supporting our Conundrum-21 events and the Royal Free Charity.
Thank you so much for your generous donations, which are making life just a bit more bearable for the people who have dedicated their lives to saving ours.
