Update- I made it in slightly under 55 minutes. It was highly unpleasant, especially when I realised most of the other swimmers were wearing wet suits or greased up.
Thank you to all of who have given so generously and helped to get the fund-raising effort off to a flying start. Your support and encouragement has been much appreciated.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Crisis and conflict, in some form or other, can affect all of us at some points in our lives so its affects are not unfamiliar. The impact on those more vulnerable or with fewer resources to draw upon can be profound.
"Children in Crisis exists to improve the lives of children around the world affected by conflict, deprivation, poverty or other hidden crises by working with local communities to provide education, healthcare and protection". The Charity operates from Afghanistan to Equador, from the Ukraine to the UK. It is based in UK and Italy.
The strength, patience and fortitude of some good friends in their battles with often life threatening illnesses, has been inspirational, particularly in this last year, and the support of so many good friends a bedrock.
I hope you will share my desire to help raise money for a charity that seeks to protect and improve the lives of those most vulnerable in situations of crisis and conflict- children.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Children in Crisis will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
The swim is 2.5Km across Lake Lugano and I hope to better the 1 hour time of last year. Although the fundraising target and the challenge of the swim itself are modest, I hope you will sponsor me generously.
Many thanks for your support.
