Story

I’m fundraising for the Irish Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day by walking 12,000 steps every day in the month of March. Two years ago, when I was 14, I suffered a concussion in a rugby match and later found out I had a brain tumour. It was obviously a huge shock, but I didn’t have much time to process it as I had surgery to remove the tumour a few days later.  Over the next year I had both radiotherapy and then chemotherapy. I’m glad to say I’m now one year past my last chemotherapy treatment. However, I’ve experienced first hand just how awful a disease cancer is. While my care throughout my cancer journey was second to none, it was still an incredibly difficult time for me.  Now, having come through all my cancer treatments, I really want to support the fantastic work the Irish Cancer Society is doing. I know how horrible cancer is to go through and the society does amazing work to make people’s cancer journeys easier in whatever way they can. I would like to urge people to support the Irish Cancer Society. Any amount would be greatly appreciated.
