Story
Connolly House is a 14 bed recovery unit for those experiencing psychosis and enduring mental health conditions. At Connolly House we target a number of interventions to support positive physical health outcomes. Examples of these are our 'Couch to 5k' group that we run 3 times a week and our 'Walk around the World' group where we collect the steps walked and convert into miles from all at Connolly House to collectively journey across our virtual globe - currently standing at 11000 miles in six months.
During this Pandemic we have really focused on improving
areas of physical health and paid extra attention to these interventions which has been welcomed by a number of our residents. To mark ‘1 Year post (first) Lockdown’ we were hoping to do a “Connolly House Marathon” where all staff and residents
contribute either by walking or running individually or in pairs adding to a collective bank of Connolly House Marathon miles.
The main aims are to show some solidarity at this difficult time but also to acknowledge and applaud the commitment and effort of patients during this tricky time and model how to create positive outcomes in the face of adversity.
We are hoping to raise money for physical activity equipment ie: bicycles, rowing machine and treadmill etc .. to increase our physical activity intervention package.
