Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Our Dad/Grandad – Robert Davidson (Rab Davidson) sadly passed away very suddenly on 24th May 2019. Anyone who knew Dad would know what a character he was and has since left such a void in all our lives. Dad had two passions in life these being his family and his Black Watch. Dad served for 24+ years in the Black Watch which he often spoke about.
It has always been on my bucket list to do a Tandem Skydive and I thought this is the perfect time to do one in memory of Dad. I will not be doing this alone my son Cormac Sharpe age 17 soon to be 18 on 12th May will also be doing a tandem skydive with me. Cormac is a golfer and has represented Scotland on many occasions and is currently in the Scottish Boys Team. Cormac is due to head out to USA in August to start his golf scholarship with Minnesota University on a 4 year scholarship. His Grandad was his no 1 fan. We are booked in to do our skydive on Sunday 15th May 2022 with Skydive St Andrews, Fife Airport, Glenrothes, Fife KY6 2SL.
As I mentioned before Dad was a military man and we have decided to raise as much money as we can for SSAFA – Perth and Kinross. When Dad passed away everyone at SSAFA was so supportive to us all especially to Mum and helped us through such a tragic time. With many close military ties in my family and beyond it felt right to support SSAFA – Perth and Kinross. It is a sad truth that veterans lack the support they need after fighting for our country, but SSAFA try hard to change this. Helping servicemen and servicewoman back into ‘civvy street’ and supporting their families in times of need. Our soldiers are our unsung heroes.
See below a brief explanation on SSAFA:
“SSAFA the Armed Forces charity, has been providing lifelong support to our Serving Forces, Veterans and their families since 1885. SSAFA understands that behind every uniform is a person. And we are here for that person. We exist to relieve need, suffering and distress amongst our Armed Forces, Veterans and their Families any time they need us, in any way they need us and for as long as they need us. We are just a phone call away."
To that end, we would love for you to support us both on our skydive and to raise as much as we possible can for our great cause. We realise times are hard just now for so many, so anything at all you can spare would be very much appreciated.
The more I can raise the less chance there is of me ‘chickening out’
