Connells team to run Bristol Half Marathon on behalf of motorbike safety
The team at local estate agency Connells in Filton is delighted to announce it will be running this year’s Bristol Half Marathon to be held on Sunday 30 September 2012.
The Connells running team, which includes Branch Manager Alexandra Tan, Senior Negotiator James Crumpton, Mortgage Services Consultant Wayne Marlton, Administrator Kerrie-Ann Sanders and Area Director Ranjit Chohan, will be raising money in memory of a Connells customer, Daryl White, who was recently killed in a motorcycle accident.
Funds raised by Connells will be donated to charity Freewheelers, which provides an out-of-hours motorcycle courier service to hospitals in the South West of England. Some of the funds will also go to South Gloucestershire Council’s Road Safety Team which runs motorcycle training days in the area.
“When the team heard the news that one of our customers had been tragically killed in a motorbike accident, we decided to try and raise as much money as possible to promote motorcycle safety and bike awareness in the local area,” says Connells’ Alexandra Tan.
“Our sympathies go to his partner, who was also injured in the accident, and family at this difficult time,” she continues. “The team at Connells is committed to raising maximum funds from our half marathon which we hope will go some way to preventing similar incidents in the future. We are appealing to as many people as possible to get in touch and pledge a donation.”
Alan Hale, Senior Road Safety Officer for South Gloucestershire Council added: “As a council we are working hard to reduce deaths and serious injuries from all collisions and in particular motorcycle collisions where the users are a very vulnerable group. It is reassuring that Connells at Filton are eager to play a part in our efforts by raising funds to enable us to provide additional training on our advanced motorcycling taster days for the riders of large capacity motorcycles. I am pleased to be working together with them.”
