Story
Christmas is synonymous with family, joy, happiness and goodwill. Unfortunately, for thousands of young people in Scotland, its a season of isolation and sadness - a stark reminder that they don't have a family home to return to. These young people are Care Experienced which means they have grown up in the care system. Over 90% of this group will have suffered neglect or abuse before going into care. Many who have now left care (some as young as 16) have little or no family networks and live in homeless accommodation, B&Bs, single flats and hostels.
We are fundraising for Care Family Christmas - a Christmas Dinner organised by Who Cares? Scotland for Care Experienced people with nowhere to go and no-one to spend it with. The charity will also send gift parcels and Christmas cards to thousands of people across Scotland, for some the only ones they'll receive this year.
Any funds raised over and above what is needed for Christmas Day, will go towards activities with Care Experienced people throughout the year.
