Story
Over 2.5 million Ukrainians have fled to the neighbouring countries with over 2 million internally displaced. Families have been split apart (males between 18 and 60 years of age are not allowed to leave the country and are expected to fight). Those that are unable to flee the war zones (an estimated 12 million people) are in need of humanitarian aid. They find shelters in subway stations and basements facing a crisis of another kind with empty shelves in grocery stores and pharmacies.
The Salvation Army in Europe is preparing for and responding to the ongoing situation in Ukraine as families continue to be affected by the war. You can help by making a donation to support The Salvation Army’s response both in Ukraine and the surrounding countries, providing food, essential items, and other much-needed support to those displaced due to the conflict.
Moldova is one of the countries that need humanitarian aid the most. Despite the amazing support provided by Moldovan volunteers and the government, people and resources are being stretched to the limit. Moldova is one of the poorest countries in Europe with a population of only 2.6 million, making it the country with the most refugees per capita. The Salvation Army Moldova has recently sent urgently needed medical items across the border where a team from Ukraine transported them to a children‘s intensive care unit in Odessa.
