Story
Hi everyone,
Our names are Sameer and Aleks, and we are currently seniors at Shrewsbury High School. From a child's lens, a visit to the hospital can be a frightening experience that may impact the quality of their stay. Growing up, we both spent a lot of time in and around hospitals and understand the challenges children encounter when spending large amounts of time in the hospital. Whether it was Pneumonia, the Flu, or a bad Cold, we know the feelings of discomfort and anxiety that can arise due to the intimidating nature of hospitals. With the dropping temperature and lingering effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic, many children will continue to spend extended periods of time at hospitals, which only exacerbates their feelings of distress. Fortunately, we can help ease these feelings in our community!
The Child Health Program at UMASS Memorial Medical Center aims to provide children with the amenities necessary to help make children comfortable and stress-free. With colorful blankets depicting popular cartoon characters and fluffy stuffed animals that they can cuddle with, the team works closely with the pediatrics unit to ensure that every child has the best possible experience at UMASS.
We embarked on this journey because we know what it is like to stay in a hospital for a long period of time as a child. We want to do everything in our power to ensure that other children are guaranteed the comfort that they deserve.
With your donations, 100% of the profits would go directly towards funding the Child Health Program. No matter the size, all donations are genuinely appreciated and are guaranteed to help children feel more at home at hospitals. Our initial goal is $1000 which would help provide comfort to countless children in your community. As the winter approaches, please help us in our endeavor to provide warmth to the children of UMASS for months to come!
Again, thank you for your time and support! If it is not possible to donate, we would greatly appreciate it if you would share this post with others to help spread awareness for this cause!
