Event: Liverpool Cathedral Abseil, on 17 July 2021
Coronavirus pandemic has meant that Across has cancelled all travel in 2020 & 2021 to Lourdes, we have lost all our operational income. We want to be able to recommence travel as soon as it is safe to do so. Help to keep the Jumbulance on the road.

Story

We did it!!!!

Successful abseil down Liverpool Cathedral this morning. Thank you sincerely to all who have so kindly and generously donated and supported us both in our fundraising.

Easter 2022 will be Deirdre's 12th Pilgrimage to Lourdes and Colm's first pilgrimage. Together they will be leading this exceptional youth pilgrimage. Please take a look through the photo album on this page which shows the last youth pilgrimage and two amazing VIP's Callum and Kate, which show you the wonderful charity, that is, "Across".

Callum (Cally) is the most amazing and inspirational 14 year old young man you could ever wish to meet. He had the best holiday with Across  accompanied with his beloved Grandad, Cally loved the gift of friendship and fun from the youth helpers. Cally has exceptional medical needs, peg fed and is non verbal. He loves his music and being with young people. The highlight of Cally's trip was to experience the sensation of the waves and sand on a day trip to the beach. He also enjoyed greatly a trip to McDonalds and eating a bite of a cheeseburger with the young helpers as his friends. Without the work of "Across" these simple joys would not have been possible. To see the smile on Cally's face and the light in his eyes truly echoes the wonderful work Across charity achieves.

Kate A most beautiful 10 year old girl who was struggling with multiple organ failure and exceptional complex health needs during the trip. Kate is blind and non verbal and responds with a smile and a hand squeeze to show when she is happy. Kate was accompanied with her Mum and Grandmother for the trip and loved the sound of the young helpers singing to her and the sensation of bubbles, feathers and tickles during our play time activities with the young helpers. Kate, her Mother and her Grandmother got to spend their holiday together making the most precious of memories. Sadly this was Kate's last holiday with her family, eight months after the trip she gained her angel wings as God called our beautiful angel Kate home to heaven. It was an honour and privilege to make the impossible possible for Kate and her family. She made a tremendous impact on all the helper volunteers with her presence, sheer determination and brilliance.

Colm and Deirdre are so humbled to be able to abseil on behalf of "Across", a charity that is very close to our hearts.  Please support us in supporting such an amazing charity! Thank you :-)
