Story

Pops was diagnosed with cancer in 2018, we were told his type of cancer could not be cured, but there was treatment available that would give us all more time together.

In January of this year, during the Covid pandemic, we were given the devastating news that Pops only had 6 months to live and all his treatment came to an end.

His wish was always to spend his final months at home, with family and his wife of 46 years. This was only possible with the support of medical professionals and the Sue Ryder 'Hospital at Home' team who looked after Pops (and us) in his final few days.

Our amazing Pops left us in June, at home, surrounded by his family telling him how much they love him.

Sue Ryder offers the expert care someone needs at the end of their life. Whether in one of our hospices, neurological centres or in their own home, making way for what matters most love. Your donations will help Sue Ryder to do this.

£21 could pay for one hour of care, allowing the time for expert pain relief so that someone can die more peacefully.£65 could give a family bereavement support, so that they can come to terms with their loss and remember a lifetime of love.£500 could give 24 hours of care and support, allowing a family to share love in those precious final days.

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.
