Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Silverstone Half Marathon on Sunday 12th March 2017 to try and raise some funds for Lewis Herbert.
This is going to be a massive challenge for me, but I really want to do this to try and help raise some much needed funds for Lewis' appeal.
Any donation towards my run really would help towards making a real difference to Lewis' quality of life and would be extremely appreciated.
Lewis was born in Nov 2002. He was diagnosed with West Syndrome at 3 months of age. This has since developed into a condition called Lennox Gastaut Syndrome (LGS). LGS is a rare and extremely severe form of epilepsy with multiple seizure types. It causes severe global developmental delay and Lewis can have 100's of different seizures every day and his is resistant to all the medications and therapies which have been tried. He is severely disabled and is unable to do anything for himself. He relies on his parents for all his personal care needs. Lewis is unable to talk or walk and has to use a wheelchair at all times. He requires 24hr 2:1 support and both his parents Gary and Lexi have had to give up work to provide all his care needs.
Lewis' parents are fundraising for him due to his complex disability, and the fact that he is always gong to need various specially adapted items and disability specific equipment which isn't available to me through standard NHS provision.
Lewis' parents are currently trying to raise funds for a deposit for a suitable wheelchair accessible vehicle which will be fully adapted and converted to Lewis' complex needs.
