Story
I'm taking on the RideLondon-Essex 100 and cycling 100 miles for Dementia UK.Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimers disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
Many of you will know, Dementia and Alzheimers has been a heart breaking challenge in the lives of my family and I for over 3 years. Mum has Dementia and Alzheimers and Dad has Alzheimers. These are unforgiving illnesses that draw cruelly on the quality of life of all those that fall ill with it. Whilst there are moments of relief and of course humour, the dark truth is its like losing your parents while they're actually still here. ... Take a moment to let that sink in and image how hard it is for those that suffer it!
Your donation, large or small, will contribute to making these difficult lives more bearable. Please dig deep and help me raise as much as possible for a great cause. On behalf of my parents, Dig & Jean, my family and all those affected by these illnesses, Thank You!!
