Story
Ok so what am I up to this time?
I am one of the founders and an organiser of the Sage Cycle Club and we always organise a cycling event as part of Sage Day 2012. This year we decided we would organise multiple events that cater for everyone and hopefully raise staggering amounts for Cancer Research UK. It would seem that this means I have to take part in all of them!
There are two main long distance events this year:
The old faithful Coast to Coast (140 mile over two days in May)
We have a load of new people taking part in this one and it makes a lovely training ride for me.
Newcastle to Purley to Paris (600 miles in less than a week in June)
We had to do something bigger than last year's ride from London to Newcastle so off to Paris we go. This is a long long ride and one of the days alone is 130 mile!
Why am I doing it?
There are three reasons for me doing these rides this year:
1) I love it, I love everything about it, I simply love cycling. I like nothing better than getting out on one of my bikes and these events are great fun with lots of like-minded people.
2) Everyone has been touched by cancer in some way, whether family or friends and I am one of those people. My Mam died of Cancer in 2007 and I simply haven't recovered, this is for that special woman.
3) The BIG One - Raising money for Cancer Research UK. The work they do will one day mean that loved ones dying from cancer is a thing of the past.
Please dig deep and donate to this fantastic cause and support me with these massive events. Many of you have supported me for years now and I really appreciate anything you can give; remember that literally every penny counts.
Colin
