Two years ago Colin completed the epic journey from Lands End to John O'Groats and I joined him at Bluebell Wood when he handed over the cheque for more than £2000. At that point, it inspired me to try and do something similar and set myself a personal challenge to raise monies for the hospice. Having learnt to ride a Road bike in 2014, I completed the 150 mile Coast to Coast trip with all my family later in the year. Then for this year I decided to set myself the huge personal challenge of completing the 900 mile trip from the Channel to Mediterranean in 9 days. With Colin as my coach I have been in training since January. However, now the nights are light, we are stepping up the pace to try to complete around 100-150 miles a week for the next 3 months. We are being accompanied on our trip with another couple (Derek & Amanda), close friends, who like me are undertaking this sort of thing for the very first time. Our trip together commences in Calais on the 4th July from which we hope to reach Narbonne, dipping our wheels in the Mediterranean after 9 long days and averaging nearly 100 miles a day. You may then find us recuperating in the South of France for a couple of days just in time to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Wish us luck!!
