Story
Colin and Camilla are once again tackling the Everest in the Alps challenge and this time we are joined by our daughter Emily and friends Rupert and JD.
The challenge involves walking uphill on skis with skins attached to the bottom of the skis and a binding in which the heel can lift with each step. The sport is known as ski touring and a normal fun day would comprise of a 500 to 800m vertical trip (and hopefully some nice powder turns on the way down...). We will be walking up 2200m vertical per day for 4 days, sleeping in the Cabane du Mont Fort above the resort of Verbier. 10 hours and 10,000 calories per day!

We are hoping to raise as much as possible for 2 charities: The Charlie Waller Trust and the Brain Tumour Charity.
We have personal ties to both of these charities. Camilla knew Charlie as a family friend when she was growing up and it therefore seems right to help raise funds for the great work this charity carries out by providing support and counselling for young people suffering with depression and training for the institutions which they attend.. Emily sadly lost a dear friend, Arthur (19), last year and her wish is to raise funds for a charity that works to help young people like him to get through difficult times. We climb with her in Arthur's memory and have named our team Excalibur accordingly.
Our association with the Brain Tumour Charity revolves around another friend of Emily, Silas Pullen who tragically succumbed to a brain tumour aged 11. Emily and Silas were at Prep School together. Silas would have turned 21 this year and in acknowledgment of this we think it fitting to climb once again in his name.
We remember also Roger Smith, a great friend of the Norton family, who sadly also lost his battle with a brain tumour.
We take the opportunity to acknowledge the enormous efforts and achievements of Rob Ritchie and the entire EIA team over the course of the EIA story. This will be the last time the event is held and we wish all teams involved every success.
