About two years ago a close family friend Jacqueline contracted breast cancer. Iv never experienced people that are close to us getting a disease like this. "It will happen to other people not the people we know" is everyone's attitude and I was no different. She went through a massive amount of treatment and trauma for over two years, but with the support of her family and friends and the fantastic work and treatment that the hospital provided we saw Jacqueline make a full recovery. I thought "we don't want anyone to go through that again".
Then last year my work colleague and good friend Venia came into my office sat down next to me and said" there is no easy way to tell you this but I have breast cancer in both breasts". Again Venia, her family and friends had a tough year, but being the person she is, her family and friends support and the dedication of the hospital staff and the fantastic care she received. She battled through the tough days, and to our relief she too got the all clear at the end of last year.
My 100 mile bike ride is a little way of putting something back into breast cancer, and by donating a small amount of money; you too can have a hand into saving someone's life. I don't want anyone else I know to get breast cancer or anyone for that matter, but if they do then our contributions will hopefully see outcomes like iv just described. Please put your hand in your pocket and let`s help eradicate BREAST CANCER ONCE AND FOR ALL...........
