Story
My name is Colin, I'm 81, and proud to be born and bred in Shrewsbury!
I continue to live a full and active life, and more than ever I am passionate about supporting the local community and helping out charities where I can.
Locked in for Autism will see me living inside a glass box for 50 hours, from Midday on Thursday 14th until 2pm on Saturday 16th May 2015.
The glass box, which measures 3m x 2m, will be situated in the foyer of the Tesco Extra store in Shrewsbury (SY1 4HA). I am allowed short comfort breaks of just 5 minutes every 2 hours and all gadgets including mobile phones are banned from the box.
Why am I doing this? My challenge will help Caudwell Children generate more awareness of autism by allowing them to engage with hundreds of people. They will also be fundraising for the vital support services they offer. I believe I have led a very good life and now is the time to put more back in the community and do something to help the kids.
In the past I have been a successful champion boxer and served in the RAF regiment (Shawbury) in the 1950's - but this will be one of my most toughest challenges yet!
Please pop down to see me in the glass box - your support will be greatly appreciated. You can donate in person at the Tesco store or here on my justgiving page. All money raised will support children in the Shrewsbury area.
You can also text: LIFA81 £3 / £5 / £10 to 70070.
Many thanks,
Colin
