Story
On the 4th of September I am going to swim the length of Coniston Water (5.25 miles) in the annual Coniston Chillswim.
Open water swimming (and walking the dog) has become my main way to keep fit over the last 12 months. There have been many hours spent swimming the lengths of local Pentland reservoirs and occasionally the North Sea., in pretty chilly water at times!
I am raising money for Alzheimer Research UK and dedicating this swim to my mum who developed dementia in the later years of her life and who sadly passed away in May 2020.
These are a few quotes from the charity website:
"Our mission is to bring about the first life-changing dementia treatment by 2025. Our vision is a world where people are free from the fear, harm and heartbreak of dementia"
"Alzheimer Research UK is the UK's leading dementia research charity, dedicated to causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure. With your help we are making great progress"
My goal is to complete the Coniston end to end swim in around 3 hours. Please consider making a donation for this deserving charity. I will keep you posted on how I got on.
