Story
I plan to cycle up three of Italy's famous mountain climbs in two days in September, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th 2017. Passo dello Stelvio on 9th, followed by Passo di Gavia and Passo del Mortirolo on the 10th.
It will be a big challenge for my then-to-be 61 year old body. At the moment I am 95% confident of climbing to the 2,758 metre peak of the Stelvio on day one but not sure that my legs will recover enough for day two. To get to the Gavia peak of 2,621m may be enough let alone descending 30km down the mountain to then start climbing all over again to the top of the 1,850m Mortirolo Pass.
Why am I even attempting it? The answer is that a member of my family has Parkinson's.
I have set a fundraising target of £4,000 and the company I work for will match this pound for pound up to a maximum of £4,000. Gift Aid saves the donor tax if they are a UK tax payer and claim. Furthermore, the charity can then can benefit by claiming tax back too, so that is the best way to donate please.
A big training program will have to begin in April if I am going to stand a good chance of completing the challenge.
Thank you, Colin.
