Story
Late November 2017 we welcomed our wonderful baby boy Ethan to the world. We knew their was a 50:50 risk of eye cancer, so he was tested immediately after being born. Having already having one completely healthy child, we were hopeful for a second, but of course we got extremely disappointing news when we had the call telling us he had the gene. Two days later Ethan had his first eye exam, which confirmed our fears, he was diagnosed with Bilateral Retinablastoma (RB) and had tumours that needed immediate treatment. At just three weeks old our baby was having an aggressive form of Chemotherapy.
We have been stunned and overwhelmed with the support given to us and our family. We can not fault the care and treatment Ethan has received. A huge part of this support has been from the guys at CHECT.
We met Lesley (a member of CHECT staff) on the very first hospital visit, she stayed with Kim and Ethan until very late that first night until she was sure we where alright. This whole process has been made a lot easier through the help of CHECT.
I am honoured to have the chance to give something back and do some fundraising.
