Story
My name is Colin Cole and on the 14th
of May 2022, I am going to be cycling from the James Paget hospital in
Gorleston-on-Sea to the London Bridge hospital in London, raising funds for the
British Heart Foundation in the memory of a close friend who suddenly passed in
December 2021 due to a heart condition called “Myocarditis”.
Myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart muscle (myocardium). The inflammation can reduce the heart's ability to pump and cause rapid or irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias). Infection with a virus usually causes myocarditis. Sometimes myocarditis can result from a reaction to a drug or be part of a more general inflammatory condition. Signs and symptoms of myocarditis include chest pain,
fatigue, shortness of breath, and rapid or irregular heartbeats. Severe myocarditis weakens the heart so that the rest of the body doesn't get enough blood. Clots can form in the heart, leading to a stroke or heart attack.
I first met Phillip in 1980 when I was 6 years old, moving into a local village, Phillip was one of my first childhood friends. Phillip was 2 years younger than me, and we spent lots of time together as kids. Playing all sorts of games, having adventures and getting into all sorts of trouble as children often do. This was pretty much how things
were up until we both left school and got jobs, girlfriends and moved
away.
Phillip was one of my closest friends and he will be forever missed.
Phillip was 46 years old when he passed.
I will be cycling a total distance of 130 miles and will be accompanied by 4 other close friends who will be riding with me in support.
Please consider sponsoring me for a worthwhile cause.
Thank You
