Story
Dementia is an umbrella term used to describe a range of progressive neurological disorders, that is, conditions affecting the brain. There are many different types of dementia, of which Alzheimer’s disease is the most common. Some people may have a combination of types of dementia. Regardless of which type is diagnosed, each person will experience their dementia in their own unique way.
Our Motto " Whilst we can, we should .... When we can't we've tried"
Of those 10 individuals involved in this event, four of those are experiencing a variety of dementia disorders affecting close family members. One in the early stages of diagnosis and onset and three others with parents in the advanced progression of a disabling and sad mental health condition. All are being cared for by loving family and friends in their own homes or by dedicated staff and nurses in dedicated Care facilities. We have the choice and easy part.. For those who are suffering and for the carers, staff and families who are the real unsung heroes, behind any event such as this ... We salute and thank you.
