Fen House - Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit.

Located in the city of Ely, in the heart of East Anglia, Fen House is a neurorehabilitation centre that offers community-based intensive rehabilitation for people with an acquired brain injury (ABI).
Near the end of a 400+ mile charity cycle ride in Italy (From Venice to Rome) in September '19 I had an accident which changed my life forever! I managed to collide with an item of street furniture, my head took most of the impact resulting in a skull fracture and Traumatic Brain Damage. (And yes, I was wearing a cycle helmet, or I would not be alive today to do this!)
I spent several weeks in a Hospital in Rome, an Air Ambulance flight back to the UK and several more weeks in Ipswich Hospital. I have absolutely no memory of the accident itself or subsequent events until I awoke in Ipswich Hospital and began to understand just how serious my injury was.
In mid October I was transferred to Fen House Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit in Ely, Cambridgeshire. Fen House is staffed and equipped specifically to treat people with an acquired Brain Injury. The treatment that I received there was truly remarkable and has significantly contributed to my recovery. The classroom sessions are both relevant, realistic and informative. I learnt a lot about my injury, the possible effects and how to cope with them. Returning to work is now also a realistic expectation.
Just 4 months after the accident, I am back riding a bike again so I have decided to take part in the Tour of Cambridge cycle ride in June 2020 (rescheduled for June 2021) to raise much needed funds for Fen House so that they can continue their fantastic work. I am only doing the 50 mile route!
Please sponsor me, any amount will help.
Many, many thanks.
