A message from Dave, our drummer:

As some of you will know, our daughter Abigail was born with a condition called Edwards syndrome or Trisomy 18. This is a severely life limiting condition, most babies with this rarely make it through the first 24 hours as there are so many associated problems and we were told that we could lose her at any moment.

Abigail was a fighter though and lived for 11 weeks and 2 days, eventually passing on New year's day 2008. For the first month of her life none of us left the hospital, Abigail certainly couldn’t. Thanks to the help and Support from not only the fantastic team at the Horton SCBU but from SANDS, specifically letting us move into their suite at the Horton for a large chunk of the time, it made things more bearable.

A lot of parents aren’t as lucky as us and don’t get any time at all with their babies, that’s why SANDS is such an important group to support.
