September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The month is dedicated to celebrating the brave superheroes that bravely battle pediatric cancer.
The reality of Childhood Cancer is devastating. Cancer is the number one cause of death by disease in children and, on average, 43 children are diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. every day.
There are no pediatric oncologists in our area, which results in 100% of our local families traveling throughout the state and nation for treatment. Candlelighters combats these realities as we serve 70+ families annually in Brevard and Indian River Counties and offer nearly 20 programs and services to help alleviate the burden of treatment.
