Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On a miserable January morning, we were discussing a cycling challenge in aid of charity in order to raise as much money as we possibly could. We couldn’t decide whether to take on a long distance challenge or a climbing challenge. Thankfully, a compromise was reached and it was agreed that (subject to finding a willing support team) we would combine both and take on something rather more ambitious in aid of a charity that means a lot to us.
Keeping in mind that we both have bodies as brittle as poppadoms, we feel that we have set ourselves a significant challenge and one that we hope people will feel worthy of their support.
On 12th July, the two of us will set off from St Malo on the North Coast of France. Our proposed five-day route takes a non-direct route to the peak of the Col du Tourmalet close to the Spanish border. In the first four days we will cover 483 miles, which will no doubt be a challenge. On the final day we will cycle a meagre 60 miles, but this will include the highest paved mountain pass in the French Pyrenees, the Col du Tourmalet which peaks at 2,115 metres.
You can view the route we are taking in the photos section of this page, but for the full effect, the links below will show you the route in a browser where you can see more detail. You could even download them and go for a ride!

We hope you will support us on our ride by making a donation to Cancer Research UK, a charity that means a lot to us. We probably don't need to spell out what they do, but please do visit their website to read about the amazing things they are achieving (http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/). They receive no government funding for their research, so are reliant on the generosity of their supporters to provide the funding for breakthroughs in cancer screening and treatment. We hope you can help.
