COASTLINE TRACTOR CHALLENGE
Philip Gibson and Peter Plehov are planning to do a road run with a difference in 2017 which will take in most of the coastline of England, Wales, Scotland and even part of Ireland.
The aim is two fold; first, the once-in-a-lifetime chance to celebrate 100 years of tractor production started by Henry Ford and encompassing Fordson, Ford and New Holland, built in Cork, Dagenham and now Basildon. Secondly, to raise money for registered charity STEPS, a Children's Care Centre alongside Cancer Research UK.
This will be done with two New Holland tractors kindly loaned by new Holland; one towing a Shepherd's Hut which will be the accommodation for Peter and Philip for up to six weeks, and the other a trailer carrying fuel, oil and supplies etc. The run will start on April 13th 2017, starting from the New Holland factory in Basildon, Essex, and finish on the 3rd of June 2017. Having covered just under or just over 5000 miles !!!!
If anyone can help in any way, for example, with overnight parking, helping is approach firm for any sponsorship (especially for fuel, ferry crossings etc) or to make a personal donation, please see the contact details below.
If anyone, or a group, want to join us for a few miles, or an overnight stop, again please just give us a call.
The shepherds hut is now near completion, heating, water and electric has been installed, the bunk beds and bathroom sorted. Insulation is in and the outer boards have been primed ready to be fitted. We aim to stay every night in the hut and not in hotels etc.
We hope to take the hut up to steps on April the 1st for their open day.
