Story
Dear All,
My son Edward was born on 21st December 2007, 13 weeks early, weighing just 2lbs 5oz. He spent 105 days on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Leighton Hospital and has been under the care of the Paediatric Home Care Team ever since.
As a gesture of thanks for all the care Edward has received we would like to raise some money for the two departments.
In order to do this, Tony (Edward's godfather), Andrew (Edward's uncle), Jill, Hannah and I are planning to cycle the 147 mile Coast to Coast route over two days. We will start in Whitehaven on the West coast and hopefully finish in Seaham on the East coast.
The money raised will be split between two departments within Leighton Hospital. I have made arrangements with the charity below that half will go to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the other half to the Paediatric Home Care Team.
The money raised will be put towards additional clinical equipment for each unit. The Neonatal Unit is currently fundraising for a new incubater and SiPAP machine. The Home Care Team is raising funds towards a new pulse oximeter (a vital piece of kit that Edward has become very accustomed to over the past year!!)
NB Please note the Justgiving website works by taking your donation at the time it is pledged and forwarding it straight to the charity (ie not after the event). In the unlikely event the ride is cancelled or not completed we would aim to reschedule ASAP.
