We support young people at risk of suicide to stay safe and find hope in times of need

Story

After several months of being stuck at home due to COVID-19, we have decided to get outside and challenge ourselves with a walk across Scotland from Fort William to Buckie, socially distancing from the local populous as we go.

The route is a minimum of 146 miles over the course of 12 days but we are likely venture off the beaten track adding considerably more distance to find suitable bivouacs en route. We will be sleeping under canvas and surviving predominantly off army rations kindly donated by George Vestey through Vestey Foods!

We are doing this because we want to get some fresh air but more importantly because all three of us have lost close friends to suicide. We all feel it is crucially important to acknowledge this threat and to do everything we can to support PAPYRUS and the amazing work they do to tackle mental health.

PAPYRUS is the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide. Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, in 2018 over 1800 young people took their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINEUK. Every £5 raised can help pay for a life-saving contact to HOPELINEUK. Your donations really are lifesaving,

Thank you for all your support,

Arthur, Rufus and Ned
