Story

Gareth Emmerson: My Cancer Story. Team Gaz Emmerson Sarcoma UK Fundraising Video - YouTube

Thank you for supporting Zoe's CMS Raffle for Sarcoma UK and for helping Team Gaz Emmerson reach their fundraising goal.

Since 2014, Gareth Emmerson has battled Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare type of bone and soft tissue cancer that typically effects teenagers and young adults. In November 2020, Gareth's diagnosis became terminal. He found out his cancer had returned for a fourth time, now in his lungs, lymph nodes and brain.

Gareth immediately decided he wanted something positive to focus on and was quickly set on raising as much money as possible for Sarcoma UK.

From 8 - 20 June 2021, Team Gaz Emmerson will be cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats covering 1000 miles in 12 days to fundraise for Sarcoma UK. Gareth has trained for the ride whilst on chemotherapy and is taking a short break from treatment to complete the challenge.

Sarcoma UK is the only national charity that funds research and campaigns for better treatment for sarcoma. It is currently a hugely underfunded area with the frontline drugs used to treat sarcoma being the same for the past 40 years.

Gareth speaks more about his diagnosis, his fundraising challenge and the great work Sarcoma UK are doing in this YouTube video:
