Story
We have been heartbroken by the news footage of the reality of the devastating impact that Covid-19 is having in India. As the country is hit by a second, deadly wave, people desperate for medical care are struggling to pay for oxygen, medication and even basic equipment.
The Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ) has chosen to support Oxfam and its India Covid-19 Appeal by inviting donations from our members and the wider jewellery and watch industry in the UK and Ireland.
Oxfam has been working with the poorest communities in India for 70 years. Today it is working with the Indian government to distribute PPE to frontline health workers. It is also helping to fund oxygen cylinders and other equipment for hospitals and health centres. Oxfam is providing food, hygiene kits and handwashing facilities to the poorest and most vulnerable communities – simple things that we all take for granted. Oxfam is also making direct cash transfers to the most vulnerable households so they can buy what they need.
