Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. In November 2019 I will be embarking on my biggest challenge of a lifetime: participation in a hospice project and 5 day trek of the Himalayas in Nepal in order to raise funds for St Richard's Hospice.
Firstly, I will be undertaking voluntary work at a hospice located in the capital, Kathmandu, which was set up in the year 2000 by a team of local doctors. I will be tasked with the refurbishment of the premises, improving the kitchen and bathroom facilities.
The trek itself will then commence on 7 November 2019 at Nayapul. The first leg of the trek will involve a climb along the banks of the Bhurungdi Khola River to Ulleri before proceeding to the highest point of our walk, Poon Hill, over the following couple of days (3,400m). We will then descend through forests and rural villages to Ghandruk. We are expected to cover a total of 55km.
By way of background, St Richard's Hospice cares for patients and families in Worcestershire who are living with life-limiting illnesses. It costs in the region of £8.8m a year to run all of the hospice's services. Any donations for sponsorship would be gratefully received, no matter how small. All donations will go directly to the hospice to help fund the ongoing support it provides, and assist with its expansion project (the Build 2020 appeal).
All associated costs in connection with travelling to Nepal and taking part in the trek have been self-funded from my own personal savings. Thank you for your continued supported!
