Story
This is the story of 4 average guys working for Thomson Reuters, out on a mission to climb Africa's highest peak and raise money for those less fortunate than us. They need your help!
Lenana is one of the slums in Kenya where children suffer from dangers of life on the streets. They suffer deeply from malnutrition, which makes them extremely vulnerable to diseases such as tuberculosis, rickets, HIV and dehydration. Orphans and abandoned children are found wondering the streets alone, often becoming prey to sexual and labor exploitation and harassment by gangs and drug recruiters. Girls who live on the streets are often recruited for prostitution.
The Hanne Howard Fund is a grass roots organisation saving the lives of approximately 130 of these children. Roughly 60% are orphans, 20% belong to HIV-infected mothers and 20% belong to destitute single mothers who are at great risk of becoming HIV positive. With thanks to generous donors, HHF houses these children in a caring premises providing them with shelter, nutrition, healthcare, education and most importantly a safe and happy environment.
This Mt. Kili. challenge organised by Gulf for Good will raise much needed money to go toward the HHF to fund things like school fees, school supplies, medical care and clothing.
The money that donors give also goes directly to the children — you don’t see any fancy offices or charity workers driving around Nairobi in nice brand new 4x4s (like some well-known international charities in Kenya do) — everything goes where it’s supposed to go.
