Story
I'm climbing Mount Snowdon in the middle of July, along with some friends, and my aim is to sponsor as many Orphans through SKT Welfare. £240 can cover all needs for one child for 1 year, insha'Allah.
The Syrian refugee crisis is one of the biggest failures of our time with over 3.5 million people displaced, a large number of which are children.
They have experienced unparalleled levels of trauma having fled war and continue to experience tremendous grief and alienation, while thousands of refugee children are out of school.
SKT Welfare has built the Springs of Hope Orphanage which caters for the needs of 215 Syrian orphans as well as 70 widowed mothers, in Reyhanli - on the Turkey/Syria border.
The centre provides shelter, food and education for orphans. It also provides counselling to help them to cope after being exposed to extreme violence and psychological and emotional distress.
In Islam, sponsoring an orphan is one of the most righteous deeds a Muslim can perform. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this,” and he held his two fingers together!
