George and Rob are trying to raise awareness and as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK by optimistically (...perhaps foolishly :D) attempting to climb the fourth highest peak from the Seven Summits Challenge! They head off for Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania on the fifth of March for the legendary seven day expedition. ê
George, having been born in South Africa knows that it’s in his blood to climb to the roof of Africa! He knows that the highest peak on the continent measuring a cool 5895m above sea level poses a significant challenge especially bearing in mind his zero experience of mountaineering!
Rob, who has climbed a number of ‘hills’ in the past, has been eager to up the ante by ascending one of the worlds most spectacular and scenic peaks. Somewhat weary, however, of his unrelenting consistent draw to bad luck is unfazed by the journey ahead, and can’t wait to reach the almost-top-of-the-world…. hopefully in as few pieces as possible!
Both of them have wanted to complete this challenging expedition for a while and now that they have committed themselves have decided it best to dedicate this arduous trek in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Cancer Research UK is the world's leading charity dedicated to beating Cancer through required and fundamental scientific research. Thanks to their groundbreaking work and unwavering commitment, as well as with new and improved revolutionary drugs and holistic treatments, more and more people are beating cancer than ever before.
Statistics show that more than 1 in 3 people, at some point in their lives, will develop a form of cancer, and unfortunately most of us will probably know someone, or already know someone, whose lives have been plagued by this devastating disease.
George and Rob have also both encountered the devastating impacts that this diabolical disease can have from first hand experience. Donating to Cancer Research UK is something very close to them and to their family’s hearts and it would mean a great deal if they were able to reach their donation target for the cause.
Both have personally paid for the expedition so how ever much money you are able and willing to donate will go entirely to the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now and don’t forget to ‘tick’ Gift Aid if you are a UK tax payer as that will enable the government to contribute an extra 25%! :)
Thank You!
