Story
As a keen theatre-goer and a admirer of Tom Burke's work, I and a bunch of like-minded friends formed the group 'Clever Clogs' to help the Outside of the Box fundraising drive. Some of us in the Northeast had hoped to do a sponsored walk together but the local and national restrictions that have been introduced in the last few weeks have put paid to that.
So, I've decided to adapt my plans to the circumstances and to stage a solo walk, which will be in my local area. The route will go from home at Shiney Row, taking in Penshaw Monument, Penshaw Woods. down to the river Wear at Cox Green then along the riverside to Fatfield. The walk is a very scenic one and will be 10km in length. I'll be taking pictures on the way, posting them as I go, and recording my progress. I aim to do it on Saturday 10th October --bearing in mind that the clock will be going back not long after that and there is a time limit to the fundraising. Of course I will be taking all proper precautions such as wearing a face covering, keeping distances etc, and make sure I'm in good health before I start the walk.
So, folks, I'm asking that if you have a little to spare and want to help this unique organisation which has given so much support to Tom and other young actors, could you make a donation, following the instructions at the bottom of the page? That way the money goes straight to where it's needed: direct to Box Clever. A massive thank you to anyone who can help!
We believe in the power of theatre to change lives. We want to take Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde to young people who wouldn't normally get the chance to experience high quality, professional theatre. Can you help us reach 10,000 young people in disadvantaged areas across the UK?
