The future of the Award is assured for many years, and we will be able to increase the amount given to each award winner.

We are also deeply moved by the many messages about Clea, and to know that so many people remember our beloved daughter and sister.

The Clea Rose Travel Award pays for students at the University of Canberra to study overseas, just like Clea did

So far, twelve students have won a Travel Award. The award has taken them to Chile, Belgium, China, and beyond.

We need at least $5000, and preferably more, to make sure that we can keep paying the Travel Award for all the students who deserve it.

 Without the additional funds, the Travel Award will eventually run out.

 We set up the award following Clea’s death in 2005. Clea had just returned home from studying overseas when she was hit by a car fleeing from a police pursuit.  She suffered severe brain injury and died three weeks later.

 Clea was in the final semester of her degree course at the University of Canberra when she was killed. We wanted to build something good and lasting out of what our family went through. The Travel Award does that by paying tribute to Clea’s adventurous spirit, her fortitude, and her commitment to exploring the world.

 The Clea Rose Travel Award gives each student at least $2000. The $2000 comes from interest, but lower rates are putting the nest egg in danger- if it gets spent, the award will end. That’s why we’re asking for your help. We also want to increase the Award, because travel costs keep on rising. 

 The Travel Award is administered by the University of Canberra Foundation.

 We are sure you understand how much this award means to us, and to the students who will widen their horizons with your help.

Felicity Brown, a final year tourism/Spanish student, got the first Clea Rose Travel Award.

 “I chose to come on exchange as I wanted to improve my Spanish.  …  I wanted to learn more about the South American culture and way of living, and I wanted to internationalise my career prospects,”
