Story
Hi all, I'm running the 2023 London Marathon in memory of my dad, David - who most of you probably knew as Mojo, life of the party and the centre of our world. My dad passed away 17th June 2022, only age 60, very unexpectedly and suddenly. Afterwards we found out that despite having multiple ECG’s weeks prior to his death and being told he was healthy - he actually had LVH (Left Ventricular Hypertrophy) meaning his blood couldn’t get to his heart, he also had AV block 1st Degree and 2nd degree, leading to his cardiac arrest which happened instantly at 5am in the morning. Had this been identified correctly, not missed and had he been aware, he would still be here today. My parents were married for 39 years and the loss on behalf of my mum has been unimaginable, he was my best friend. Thankfully my mum will also be running the marathon at my side, so we will cross the finish line together. He would be in disbelief at the fact I’m running 42k or 26 miles considering I used to do 5k max. BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures - one which I wish my dad could have had. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. I’m aware the target is high however it’s the pledge set by BHF to run the marathon, so literally every contribution helps massively. Thanks so much -
Papa bear, miss you more than words could ever say .. to infinity and beyond.
