Martin Currie Charitable Foundation - 2009 Martin Currie Rob Roy Challenge · 20 June 2009 ·
Hi all;
THE ROB ROY CALLS and I am goign it AGAIN.
The event covers 55 miles of the spectacular Rob Roy Way by a combination of walking and cycling.
Our Teams will walk 16 miles from Drymen, near Loch Lomond, north-east through The Trossachs to Callander. They will then switch to bikes for a 39 mile cycle via Balquhidder to Kenmore on the banks of Loch Tay.
Four charities will benefit form the 2009 event. Sighsavers International is the new International charity partner, Princes Trust and Princes Scotish Youth Business Trust have been retained as the National charity partner, and The Place2Be continues to be our Local charity partner
Much of this great route is steeped in fascinating history. Rob Roy used much of it for his travels throughout Scotland. The route passes through his home town of Balqhuidder, where participants will toast his memory in the small village graveyard. Rob Roy also sheltered at Finlarig Castle, near Killin, while on the run from the authorities.
