This is the first time I am trying my hands on fundraising. It is not for a marathon, nor for an adventure race or major sports event – it is for a charity that promotes youth and sustainable development by running adventure expeditions in Borneo, Costa Rica/Nicaragua and India for individuals and groups of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds. Volunteers work on sustainable and worthwhile community and environmental projects alongside young people from the host country and local skilled workers. Volunteers will also undertake a tough adventure challenge, such as going on long and demanding treks.

And that's where I come in - as a Venture Manager, I will be responsible for leading these treks safely and effectively, providing guidance and encouragement through the best and worst times of the trek.  As Raleigh is a charity, Venture Managers do not get paid – I am also responsible for raising £500 that goes toward training, pre-departure and in-country support; and for my plane ticket.  Why am I doing this?  Simple answer: leading youth expeditions allows me to combine my passion for and interest in the education and the outdoors and offers me the chance to experience and compare differences and similarities in expedition formats and expedition providers.

For that reason, I created this Justgiving page and hope that I will be able to raise the required amount of £300 (I already paid £200) with your help!!  In turn, I will upload photos/videos of the expedition and keep an expedition blog for everybody to follow and see where your money went.
