Story
On September 10th 2017, we will be running the Great North Run half-marathon in aid of Maggie’s Centres - a network of drop-in centres across the United Kingdom, which aim to help anyone who has been affected by cancer.
This is our first time running a half-marathon, so we have been training together and learning many lessons along the way. Sometimes the hard way - for example, we now know it is sensible to make sure you actually eat some food before attempting to run 15k!
Why are we supporting Maggie’s?
We think Maggie’s is an amazing charity, offering so much to people who are coping with a cancer diagnosis, outside of their medical treatment.
Maggie’s Centres provide free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends. Built in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie’s Centres have professional staff on hand to offer the support people need, during every stage of cancer treatment from starting treatment, to hair loss support, to managing stress and then returning to work after cancer.
It costs £590,000 a year to keep a Maggie's Centre open. Here are a few examples of the great ways that your donation will contribute to Maggie’s patients:
£15 could pay for one person to attend a nutrition workshop, to help them eat well and feel better during cancer treatment
£40 could pay for an hour with a Benefits Advisor to help someone access financial support they might be eligible for
£300 could pay for a Cancer Support Specialist to provide immediate support for 100 visitors to a Centre each day

We really appreciate any support for this fantastic charity!
Lots of love,
Camila and Claudia
